New Nails + Target Run + New Card

Busy Morning: I went to another yard sale this morning on the way to the gym, but came away empty handed.  Meh, no biggie.  At the gym, I did 15 minutes on the modified stair stepper, 2500 m row, 15 minutes on the elliptical, and finished it off with another 2500 m row.  My shoulders are probably going to feel it tomorrow.  Next I went to Target and my goal was to get some swimming goggles and an new iPhone case.  I was inspired to do so because a) it seems like the pool at the gym is not used very much (which hopefully translates to me getting the pool to myself and b) I feel like I need to switch my workouts up instead of doing mostly spinning.  My upper body strength could use some work.

The new iPhone case was more of a priority than the goggles because the case that I bought exactly a week ago has already cracked in several places. What a piece of crap.  The case was hard so it was difficult to pry the phone out when I wanted to put it in my arm band for listening to music while working out at the gym.  I needed something that was more flexible, so I ended up with a teal and black one from iFrogz.

Ebay Update: My Just Dance 2 Wii game that I bought at a yard sale last weekend sold on Ebay, my first Ebay sale ever!  Now I'm just waiting for the buyer to pay.  I wish the payment was instantaneous like Etsy, but that's not really how Ebay works so I'll just have to be patient.  I mean, if the buyer doesn't pay, I can always relist the game.

Nails: I picked up two colors of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri nail polish during my Target run today.  I was drawn to this almost kelly green color called In Record Lime (right).  It looks very similar to Just in Lime (left), but Just in Lime is more yellow.
New Card: Here's a birthday card that I need to send out to a friend next week.  I started at the card for a little bit tonight, thinking that something was missing.  Ah ha.  Water.  I used some blue Distress Ink and my Aqua Painter to add some blue to the bottom of the jar to make it look like there's some water for the flowers to soak up.

Card Specs:
Ink: Colorbox chalk ink in Charcoal, Dark Peony, Warm Green.  Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Broken China.
Stamp: Stampin' Up- Elementary Elegance (sentiment), Perfectly Preserved (jar, stem, flower).  Fiskars- Thank You (leaf)
Paper: American Crafts- Hello Sunshine
Punch: Fiskars Upper Crest border punch
Other: Staedtler Triplus Fineliner

Blast From the Past: Micro Machines

Yard Sale Finds: I went to a few yard sale sales today, but didn't buy much.  I bargained a little bit with a 13 year old boy for some DVDs: Julie and Julia, Up, and X-Men.  $2 each, but I got the bundle for $5.  I also got some Micro Machines from 1987.  I've seen some people on Etsy repurpose them into necklace pendants.  We'll see how they sell.  The lady asked for $3, but I was able to get it down to $2.50.
Etsy: Today was my third day in a row with an Etsy sale from something that I picked up at a yard sale.  This time it was a set of new ink pads that I got at a yard sale last weekend (yay!).

Dumpling Party!: Robyn and Julie came over to make dumplings tonight, and wow, we made quite a few.  Everyone got a full container of leftovers at the end of the night.  We watched Identity Thief, which was funny (and there were some unexpected touching parts), but nothing that I'd buy to watch again.

Fun Filled Friday and Fall-To Layout #247

What a day!
  • 9:30 AM 1-hr spin class.
  • Zipped over to my boss's boss's house to water his outdoor plants.  I haven't been since Sunday because Mother Nature has taken care of the watering for me the last few days.
  • Staples to recycle 2 ink cartridges.
  • Michaels to check out their stamp selection.  I got a bunch of new Studio G stamps.
  • Sally's Beauty Supply to check out their 50% off red sticker items.  Came out empty handed.
  • Target to pick up some photos that I got printed.  Bought some earrings on clearance.  (Sold 2 stamp sets on Etsy while at Target).
  • Goodwill to look around.  Came out empty handed.
  • Parents' house to show Mom the pictures I got printed.
  • Baja Fresh to get lunch.
  • Home for a shower and eat lunch...
**WHEWWW**
  • Post office to mail off the Etsy order that I got while I was in Target.
  • Went to another post office because the first one had closed early (blah!).
  • ATM...self explanatory.
  • Gas station...self explanatory.
  • Thrift store to look around.  Came out empty handed.
  • Asian grocery store to buy items for tomorrow night's dumpling making session with Robyn and my sister.
  • Costco eatery for a very berry sundae.  I had a few bites of Mom's when I went on Friday, but now I wanted one to myself.  The frozen treats at the eatery must be a popular item today because I saw them pouring more frozen yogurt milk into the machine.  The sundae was a great complement to the hot summer day.
Card: Here's my take on Fall-To Layout #247.  I have a few birthday cards that I need to make for this month, so I figured I'd make one of them today using one of the stamps that I bought today.

Card Specs:
Ink: Colorbox chalk ink in Chestnut Roan, Deep Lagoon, Sour Apple, Yellow Ochre and Charcoal
Stamp: Studio G (bicycle and sentiment), Stampin' Up- Owl Occasions (gifts and party hat)
Paper: Die Cuts with a View- Mango Frost
Washi Tape: Container Store
Card base: Hero Arts Mocha Folded Cards

Happy July 4th!

Hope everyone out there had a wonderful July 4th holiday!

The one exciting thing from today was that I got 2 Etsy orders, one from a return buyer (she bought 8 cards) and one from a new one (a Stampin' Up set).  I haven't heard that cha-ching notification on my iPhone in a while, alerting me to a sale, so it was nice to hear it again.  I haven't had a sale in over a month, so this was very welcomed.
I went over to my parents' house for dinner tonight.  Dad grilled some steaks.  Ginger was enjoying her dark Costco box.
I'm glad that the office gave us the day off tomorrow. I have quite a to-do list in my head.  Spin class, Target, Staples, big boss's house to check on plants, grocery shopping, etc.  I hope I can get it all done!

July 4th Nails

I got my nails ready for the 4th of July!  Well, the red didn't turn out as vibrant against the pale blue, so I guess this is more of a modified July 4th manicure.

Red: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Racy Rouge. White: Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in White On. Bundle Monster plate #203.
I decided to take the day off from work.  Part of the day I spent with Mom and Dad at the new Costco that opened up recently.  They've gone several times, but this was the first time I've been there.  I was surprised that checking out was quick and that it wasn't a mad house from people preparing for tomorrow's BBQs.

I also went to the gym to work out on the machines in the first time in forever.  I felt guilty that I hadn't been to spin class this morning (the rain was coming down pretty heavily), so I went after dinner (30 elliptical, 15 modified stair stepper, 500 m row).

Harry the Cat

There's been a grey cat that's been hanging out at my parents' house the past few months. Mom's been feeding it every day so of course it hasn't found a reason to leave. Ginger does not like it hanging around but since she's not allowed to go outside, there's no way for her to defend her territory. She does the best she can through the window.  The cat is very shy and hasn't let anyone of us pet it. When we open the door to the deck, it runs away to hide under the picnic table but close enough he can see us put food in the bowl outside for him.

I'm not even sure it's a boy, but we named it Harry anyway. At night you can hear the cat meowing. It's so sad! He hisses too, which is very unfriendly!

New Nails

After I went to my parents' house last night, I stopped at CVS for a chocolate run. Among the things I bought were a box of Milk Duds and 2 bottles of Orly nail polish (still 50% off, woot!). I gave my nails a break for a few days, and then it's business as usual today. This is two coats of Snowcone by Orly, and I thought that was an appropriate name given that it's the first day of July!
