My friend Page's mom has been battling breast cancer for a while, and earlier tonight I got a text message from her saying that her mom has passed away this morning peacefully. I had a feeling this news was coming because I had talked to Page on the phone briefly on Saturday, but it's still sad. Mrs. T was a very strong, vibrant woman, and it's been tough to hear about her health declining over the past few years.
Our college group of friends is trying to figure out what to do. Do we go to the service? Maybe it'd be better to go to visit Page in November because I'm sure that things are going to be hectic with the funeral, and then once people go home, loneliness might set in and she might want some company.

CrossFit and At the Office Stuff
Julie and I were the only ones at CrossFit today (hah, just like Saturday). We commiserated with the trainer about the perks of living at home and saving money and the cons of living with roommates. The Metcon was 600m run, 50 sit-ups, 100 kettlebell swings and 600m run. I squeaked by Julie by a few seconds.
My only conference call for today got cancelled. There has been talk about doing an in-person meeting at the beginning of November, less than a month away. I wasn't keen on the idea from the beginning because I felt like preparation for the meeting would be too rushed, but I went along with it because that's what the higher ups wanted and send out a poll to see what everyone's availability was. It turns out that some of the major players can't make it, so it was easier to voice my concerns to the director. We're going to try to have the meeting in January when there's more stuff to discuss. I don't want to waste anyone's time (or mine) or travel funds. (Sigh of relief!) I worked on a survey document and cranked out a quarterly committee report for the rest of the day. I'll have earned the vacation days that I'm taking on Thursday and Friday, making an already long weekend longer. :D

CrossFit, Cookies, Spin Class and Work Anniversary Card
I met up with Julie for 6:30 AM CrossFit this morning. The usual crew was there too (Maria and Eileen). We worked on our hang squat clean (I upped my weight to 40 lbs, but next time I'm going to go for 50 lbs).
I brought the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies that I made yesterday to the office and within an hour, they were all gone. Reggie came by to bring me the empty container. Michelle gave me one of the pumpkin butter chocolate chip cookies that she made over the weekend to share. YUM! I'm glad she only brought me one because I would have gone back for second and thirds, etc.
My 7 year work anniversary is on Friday, and of course, right on schedule, I got my work anniversary card in the mail today (along with a snail mail letter from Suzie). Since I had energy at the end of the work day, I went over to the other gym for the 6 PM spin class. I gave Nancy the instructor some of the cookies I made because she periodically alludes to them and how yummy they are. I had 3 cookies left over, so those went to Julie, Hugo and Michelle, which I delivered after class. Hooray, they are all out of my house!

New Clothes, New Card and Arm Day
I didn't make it to spin class this morning...blah. The bed was too nice and warm! Once I got moving, I ate breakfast and went to the gym for Crush60 Day 36: Arm Day. Ugh, grueling. After your arms feel like jello, then you have a 30 minute max incline walk to look forward to. So everything feels like jello!
In other news, I made a card for Page on Friday night.

CrossFit Class and Some Shopping
RJ curled up into a little ball when it was time to go to sleep, but then I woke up to him stretched out this morning. Hah.
Julie and I went to the 11 AM session of CrossFit this morning (we ended up being the only ones for this session). The 10:15 AM session was super packed, and we got a preview of the workout. Everyone looked like they were getting tired, and when it was our turn, I understood why. I worked on my hang squat clean (30 lbs since this was my first time doing this move). The workout was 5 pull-ups, 10 push ups, 15 squats and 200 m run, as many times as you can. Julie and I were neck and neck for the first two rounds but those push ups started to slow me down.
I went home to get cleaned up and then I went to New York and Company in search of new dress pants. They were having a sale on them for $20! I chose a size smaller, but my thighs and butt got in the way even though they were okay around the waist. I suppose I could have made them work, but wearing super tight pants to work wouldn't be appropriate, huh? We'll try again next time! I did get 3 new tops though. :)
I came home to a notice from Safe Speed, informing me that I got zapped by the speed camera when I went to see that movie with Michelle and Surili a few weeks ago. I made it over a year without getting zapped...I was doing so good! UGH.
I went over to my parents' house for dinner because Mom made curry rice. Julie caught me up on her whirlwind trip to New Jersey last weekend and her crazy week of work.

Dental Appointment and Rest Day

The dental hygienist got a kick out of my cat earrings.
After a clean bill of health from the dentist, I went to Target (came out with some Q-tips and Reese's peanut butter pumpkins) and Old Navy (I found 2 pants and a shirt that I liked, but I decided to put everything back and sleep on it). After some lunch, I took some pictures of things that I am planning to sell on Ebay once I get some boxes from the office. I also wanted to clear out some of my bookshelf in the living room area so I boxed up a whole bunch of Glamour, In Style, and Self magazines (probably 30 issues total?) and dropped them off at the local middle school. Hopefully the students can do an art project with them or something. Since I was already out and about, I went to Safeway to get some yogurt and other groceries.
And then came home to take a long nap with RJ. It's been a dreary rainy day, so this was perfect weather for a nap. (Although I would argue that any weather is perfect weather to take a nap with the cat). I almost went to CrossFit instead of napping, but since I've worked out the past 5 days, I feel like I've earned my rest day. Rest days are important too!!
Currently listening to "Love Myself" by Hailee Steinfeld.
Just ate the last of my Indian food from the other day (wahhh).

Telework Day, CrossFit and Spin Class

(Wow, it's already October...)
I was so ready for CrossFit after I closed up my work computer. Yay, let the weekend begin! We worked on push presses. I added 5 lbs to my weight last time, so now I'm up to 50 lbs. Then for the METCON, I did 10 box jumps, 20 sit ups, and 40 lb farmer carry (5 rounds of this). The sit-ups totally slowed me down. I think I'll challenge myself to do 20 inches box jumps to 24 inches. And since I still had some energy left over, I went to spin class afterwards. I need to burn off all the candy I've been eating at the office, ugh! To be fair, I only ate one mini Snickers today.
Hang on, let me pat myself on the back.
I did some grocery shopping after spin. Does everyone else notice the explosion of pumpkin spice anything at the grocery store? Wow. With that said, I picked up some pumpkin spice cream cheese to eat with my cinnamon raisin bagels. I also picked up a mini apple pie for Julie because she's been working really hard at work, then off to my parents' house afterwards to check in. Julie wasn't home from work yet, so I went 2 houses down to hang out with my cousin and his girlfriend. It's nice to have family so close by! :)
To get into the fall spirit, I painted my nails a deep purple color today.
