Meg's Half Marathon and Fall-To Layout #182

Meg's Half Marathon: Today, I went with Meg to cheer her on in the Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon (she did the full marathon 2 years ago). The Happy Birthday balloon that we used last week as a good marker for the cheer squad was still going strong, so I brought that around with me. Many people along the way kept saying happy birthday that I just said thank you instead of trying to correct them.

It was pretty amazing how many runners were at this event today. Just getting off the Metro and toward the Stadium was a hassle. It was a sea of people. There was one scary moment where a guy fell on the escalator and Meg almost got trampled, but fortunately, this guy was able to regain his balance with the help of a friend. Yikes.

I parked myself at Mile 2 and fortunately, there were some other people there too. One lady was watching for her friends so that she could jump in and run with them. This was going to be difficult since she said that her friends were running with a green shirt and black capri running tights, a very common outfit for the women considering today was St. Patrick's Day. I see the 2:00 pace team run by but no Meg. I was starting to get worried, so I decided to check my phone and her parents forwarded me the texts they were getting with Meg's progress. She had already passed the 5K mark so I missed her. Right before I decided to move to my next spot, one of my high school friends runs by and yells "TINA! Why aren't you runningggg?!" Ha ha. Uhhh, because running 13.1 miles sounds torturous to me?

I saw Meg again between miles 10 and 11 and then I made my way back to the Stadium. I couldn't make it in time to see her cross the finish line, but I think Meg understood since the Metro was slow and there was a crowd to wade through. I gave her a big hug at the end and then made my way back home...where I then passed out for the afternoon. Man, being a cheer squad party of 1 is tough...but of course, not as tough as running a half marathon.

Card: Here's my take on Fall-To Layout #182. My goal was to make a masculine birthday card. I think it turned out to be more gender neutral, but at least it's not overtly feminine as my cards usually turn out to be.

Card Specs:
Ink: Colorbox chalk ink in Charcoal. Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Broken China.
